About beauty

Beauty is something incomprehensible.

We have a feeling of it that is impossible to disassemble into components.

Beauty includes sophisticated thought-provoking shapes, unusual color combinations, symmetry.

We find beauty in nature, people, objects, and sounds.

But probably the most important characteristic of the beauty is its fragility.

Beauty in anything can be broken with one single word, one single thought.

Anytime you call something beautiful it becomes dull.

The word “beautiful” and any other word is flat and does not represent what you perceive.

I encourage you to practice the perception of the beauty without constant attempts to label it. As soon as you stick a word to your visual or audial experience the beauty fades away.

Grasping the beauty means the ability to touch it thoughtlessly.

It is a skill that you can foster and that will transport you to the state of perception that you had when you were a child.

Try.

Stop the thought. Touch the beauty.

About the Way.

I am grateful to my parents that gave me the name that defined the course of my life.

Thousand of ways.

That is some original ass creativity if you ask me.

My name is my own beacon, a reminder to stay open to different paths and opportunities.

I learned that to any problem that I face there are multiple solutions.

I happened to learn that there are also multiple ways to enter the problematic situation.

I learned that there are many ways I could manifest myself in this life. Some are inspiring and some are fearsome, some grow the light within me, and some lead me to the darkness inside.

I learned that the ways I walk are always temporary and there is a turning point on any of them where I have to choose where my next road will lead me. It is these very moments that turn me inside out to expose what I really am and what I could become.

Hit the road, child.

Don’t be afraid of it. Your thousands of ways are essentially one path that you have to walk — path of a warrior, path of a hero.

On your way, you will find your weapons and strengths, kill monsters and slay dragons. On your way, you will accomplish things you never imagined are possible.

We have to walk our paths and undergo personal evolution being open to change and cherishing transformation.

I encourage you to do so.

You don’t have the Way.

You ARE the Way.

Stay persistent.

Believe in yourself.

Think twice, no, three times when you find yourself at crossroads but once you made up your mind don’t look back.

Make sure you have a good ride this life.

Stay fierce. Set yourself on fire. And

Do not go gentle into that good night

About Temporary Being.

black-and-white, close-up, close-up view

We are born.

We live.

We die.

This is the circle of life.

Death comes to all of us. It is the only one thing that you can be 100% sure about. An ultimate equalizer for everyone be it a rich man or a homeless, a genius or an idiot.

Today, start to develop the right attitude towards the things and life in general.

The attitude of temporary being.

With all our possessions and assets, with all these bling-blings and ka-chings it is so easy to get attached to them.

You have to cultivate the right mindset.

You are a guest on this planet.

Once, you knocked the door alone.

You walk alone.

You will have to leave one day.

Alone.

Nothing belongs to you here, it never did and it never will.

Everything that you were or will be able to grasp in your hands is temporary. The moment lasts and then it is superseded by another moment, and then by another one, and so on…

And so are you.

You are not the first human being walking the earth and you are definitely not the last. Your problems are not the most problematic things in the Universe.

Stay humble.

Be a fragile dandelion with a head full of mind-seeds of attachments ready to let go because whether you want it or not the wind of time will blow them away.

Be a respectful and considerate guest on this planet. Take responsibility for a part of it and leave it to those who will come after you a little bit better and slightly more beautiful.

Channel the knowledge through your life, leave a legacy that will wait for those who seek help.

Learn from those who did the same thing for you. Collect the crumbles of wisdom and cherish them along the way.

Make a person next to you smile for a second as at that very second you are changing her life.

Enrich lives of those with whom your life happened to intersect with.

And when the wind comes, be ready to become a dandelion.

Let go.

About Wrong Choices

Man's Hand in Shallow Focus and Grayscale Photography

I am trying to write to you daily, but sometimes I skip.

Maybe I choose not to.

I want to take a pause and think about the significance of the choice.

You choose all the time. From minor things, like what to eat for breakfast, to important ones, like choosing a school or a country to live.

Big choices are like turning the steering wheel really fast. They can completely change your course. Whereas, small choices are much more tricky. They are unnoticable but upon accumulation, the change that they provide could be astounding.

Remember. You become the totality of the choices you made.

I made many wrong choices in my life.

I could say that we don’t fail in life, we whether win or learn, but that would be a lie.

I failed. And I failed big.

Of course, I learned but learning is not the point. The winning is.

As a rule of thumb before making a choice think about what your parents would say and sit down, close your eyes, and listen to your inner voice.

The mechanisms of internal insights are unknown, but it doesn’t change the fact that somehow you already know what is the right thing for you.

Rarely you will face situations where you find yourself facing dilemmas.

Most of the time everything is straightforward.

Please, ask yourself the following question more often:

“Is that the right thing to do?”

And if the answer is “no” then don’t do it.

You might not see the instant results of your choices but don’t get delusional, we all harvest what we seed.

Always choose wisely.

About Luck

White and Black Dice

I don’t believe in luck.

I believe in the way and the law of attraction.

The way — is what you create. You invest your time, you invest your attention, you work hard to change your mindset, and as a result, you transform.

The law of attraction for me is universal. I can’t deny its existence. For me, it is as real as gravity.

When you call something lucky you jeopardize your own will. You start to think that the things that happen to you are of external nature and in some cases, you might believe that you are out of your hand.

That’s not true.

People around came to your life because of who you are. And this is the reason for them to leave when the time comes.

Situations don’t happen. You attract them, both positive and negative.

You think, and more of what you think about will appear in your life. That’s the law of thought materialization.

If you “got lucky” stay grateful and humble. You’ve just attracted something positive in your life. The Universe thinks you are worthy, say thank you, and don’t get attached. The Universe is abundant, but it doesn’t owe you anything.

If you “got unlucky” stay grateful and humble. Grateful because you never know, it might be that the alternative situation to what you have is actually much worse. Stay humble, because this is what the Universe tells you to do. You got too arrogant, too attached, you lost balance, and the Universe sends you a reminder. Don’t cock it up.

In Russian, we say: “God has no other hands but ours”.

Think about it.

You are the master of your ship.

You are the creator of your own luck.

About Existentialism

bark, black-and-white, branches

I remember myself sitting alone in the park on a bench in Almaty watching naked late fall trees.

I was intensively reading J.P.Sartre at that time. I think I was reading the “Nausea” when I coincidentally bumped into the passage where he was describing the tree with the highest and detailed precision. It hit me.

The Existence.

For a moment I had a feeling of a deep fall.

I suddenly questioned if it is worth living.

I lost all of my reasons and I realized how unique and untransferable to others my experience is.

In a sense, I was an uncrackable nut, and no one could ever be able to see what is going on under the nutshell, the movements of my soul and the true depth of me. The feeling was overwhelming.

But soon after it started to dissolve. Other thing came to displace the ultimate meaningless.

The insight.

I absorbed the main ideas of existentialism and after time they became pieces of my core mindset.

  • We do not find meaning. We create it. Even if ultimately life has no meaning, on the scale of individual the meaning is a matter of choice.
  • What I experience is uniquely mine. No one can’t judge me, as they don’t know what I have been through. On the other hand, I shall not judge anyone, as I never walked the path in their shoes either.
  • I was born alone, I am alone, I die alone. I embraced my loneliness.
But that doesn’t mean that I should distance myself from people, quite the opposite. Relationships are the things that give life its meaning.
  • Do people create things because this is our nature or just because we are bored? That’s an interesting question, but at the end of the day, it is irrelevant for the outcome. All I have to do is to keep creating even if my motifs are unclear to me.
  • I am the total sum of my choices. What I possess, the place I am, the people around me, the thoughts in my head, the world around me — Everything is me. I am the totality. But again the only thing That I should take from it is practicality. It helps to realize that living with 100% responsibility for my actions as well as for my thoughts is the only possible way.

I am sure you will have your time questioning life.

Existentialism in its ultimate form can bring you to isolation. Be aware of that.

I just want to tell you that there were many smart men before you contemplating quite enough about the things that you might think of right now.

Existentialism might be considered as a sad way of thinking about things, but it is a beautiful philosophy which taught me a lot about the world and myself.

I squeezed the practical things and moved on.

Study it, and it will help you too.

Remember:

We are our choices

J.P. Sartre

Tame your demons

We all have our dark side.

Our inner demons never sleep.

Keep in mind that what you feed is growing inside you. The temptation to indulge is the strongest right before giving up to the thing that you are trying to avoid.

We are not the sum of the things we think, we are the sum of the things we do. Our actions and our choices define us.

There will be dark times for you when you will feel that the world is collapsing.

It is not. You are.

The best way to dissolve the doubt is to act upon it. It doesn’t even matter what you do, just do something. Go and run, start cleaning your room, organize your documents. Anything.

Action dissolved the doubt. Being proactive removes the necessity to uselessly contemplate or what’s worse to complain.

Don’t give food to your inner demons, and by the food I mean your time and attention. Keep them hungry and that will weaken them.

Give the food to the good inside you. Find time to express your gratitude, find time to sit calmly and dive deep down inside yourself, find time to do things that you truly love, things that change you, and force you to become better.

Tame your inner demons because if you won’t they will tame you.

About Future

Low Angle Photography of Metal Building on Grayscale

Yesterday a new video popped up on YouTube.

A robot did a backflip.

A robot.

By the time you will be reading this complex-moving robots will be as normal as smartphones for us. Robots will do amazing things, and still will be improving.

Last year we saw the robots from BostonRobotics and were laughing as they were quite clumsy.

The robots of today can learn how to walk from nothing within several hours faster than any human being.

Just last year in March 2016 we saw AlphaGo crushing Lee Sedol which was first considered impossible.

Today AlphaGo can crush 50 top players. Simultaneously.

The pace of the progress is remarkable, but also it is quite scary.

The technology is getting cheaper, smartphones become accessible, the internet gets faster and is more available.

It decreases the cost of education and accessibility of knowledge, people get smarter, smart people get ideas, the penetration barrier for starting a company becomes thin, innovations emerge.

Companies compete in attempts to develop superior technologies, shareholders encourage further advancements, governments are trying to keep up with the technology and issue adequate regulations.

It is a challenge of our time to keep a balance between regulations and innovation, a balance between safety and progress.

I believe the future where Artificial Intelligence has changed the face of the world— the future you live in is safe and beautiful.

I hope we will face the challenges that the disruptions of the job market will bring us.

I am fascinated to share this time with you.

Stay brave and driven.

About Writing

abstract, black and-white, blur

I write.

I hope my letters find you well.

I wish someone did it for me back in time.

I remember myself a lost teenager with a bag of questions and no one around to answer.

Well, I am here for you.

Today I want to tell you about the things I learned through writing.

Writing is a therapy.

Whatever wounds you have, spill them all out on the paper. Once you do, you will feel so much better. You don’t have to share it with anyone. If you want, just burn it and flush the ashes down the toilet. Trust me, writing helps.

Writing dissolves doubts.

Having a hard choice? Write pros and cons on the paper, and the solution will become apparent. In fact, in the moment you take the pen your heart will already know the answer. Listen carefully.

Writing helps you to master the language.

Writing is an instrument, a weapon, a sword if you will. When it is sharp and you are a blade master many things become possible. Yous start to think better, you learn how to formulate your thoughts. As a result, you start to speak better, you will learn how to speak from your very center and touch other people’s hearts and minds.

Writing will tremendously increase your EQ.

Writing is a self-reflection. It gives you the opportunity to practice the skill of description of the soul processes that flow underneath your skin.

Writing teaches you words. If you can name it, you can identify it. If you can identify it, you know how to separate it from yourself. When the emotion becomes a part of you, it no longer controls you.

There are many things that you will learn about yourself as you write.

Write letters to your friends.

Write letters to your future self.

Write letters to me.

Just write.

About Family

black-and-white, child, connected

One day you will leave.

You will go because it will be your time to go.

You will grow up as you will become an adult and it means that your time to explore the world and walk your own path will come.

I will worry.

I will trust you but I will still worry.

A friend of mine who has 2 kids already once said to me that the moment your child is born is the moment when you start to live with fear for your baby.

I can tell you about my parents. I am an adult, and I am a man fully capable of taking care of myself, yet your grandmother still texts me and calls me every day asking if I am eating well, and keeping myself away from colds.

You will be a parent too.

I can’t imagine how your life will look like with all the progress and innovation that will take place in the next 20 years. I am fascinated and I am looking forward to what a beautiful human being you will become.

I understand that on the speeds of life that are waiting for you there will be so little time for your old man. That is why I am taking my time now, so you could come back to me whenever you are ready.

Be a good child and remember:

You are born to do great things, not just add up to the noise.
